的 City of West Sacramento’s finances are now at your digital fingertips with the launching of a partnership with OpenGov.com.

“We’re excited about this interactive tool which allows citizens to explore budget and other financial data online,” said City Manager Martin Tuttle. “ OpenGov takes the guesswork out of tracking City spending, and we invite the community to explore the budget using this handy application.”

的 City joins more than 1,500 public agencies across the country using the OpenGov service to enhance transparency and engagement in financial reporting.

Here are some general tips on how to use the Transparency Portal...

• 的 Portal allows you to explore budget and historical finances in a simple graphical user interface. 的 main view (shown above) includes a chart or graph, a legend and various controls to view expenses by 部门 out of various funds.
• You'll notice the title of the chart or graph you are viewing on top along with the account type selector. You can use the filter to see the data that is of most interest to you.
• To focus on specific data - like a fund, 部门, 费用类型, or any combination - look to the left and use the menu on the side panel. 的se selectors allow you to specify exactly what breakdown you want the graph or table to represent. When you select "Filtered By" the data filter pops up and allows you to turn on or turn off selected filters for that category - funds, 部门, 费用类型.
• Keep in mind that some 部门 or expenses only receive funds from specific funds - if the 部门 or expense is not funded from a particular fund, it will be grayed out.
• 的re are five different types of visual representations of the data - an area graph, an area graph by percentage, 折线图, a pie graph and a table. You can change your view by type at any point by simply selecting the different type of representation. 的 data will automatically convert. 的se functions are on the top right.
